IEEE Systems Journal

The IEEE Systems Journal (ISJ) is the technical journal of the IEEE Systems Council, and is published quarterly.

SCOPE: This publication provides a systems-level, focused forum for application-oriented manuscripts that address complex systems and system-of-systems of national and global significance. It intends to encourage and facilitate cooperation and interaction among IEEE Societies with systems-level and systems engineering interest, and to attract non-IEEE contributors and readers from around the globe. Our IEEE Systems Council job is to address issues in new ways that are not solvable in the domains of the existing IEEE or other societies or global organizations. These problems do not fit within traditional hierarchical boundaries. For example, disaster response such as that triggered by hurricanes, tsunamis, or current volcanic eruptions is not solvable by pure engineering solutions. We need to think about changing and enlarging the paradigm to include systems issues.

APPROPRIATE USE OF BIBLIOMETRICS: IEEE has issued a recommendation about the appropriate use of bibliometric indices.

NEW ISSUE ALERT: IEEE Xplore offers free subscription to the alerting system. When a new issue is posted in IEEE Xplore, the system sends you an email with the link to the table of content. Log in IEEE Xplore, go to the IEEE Systems Journal, page and select “Add Journal to My Alerts” at the top right corner.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: The manuscripts should be prepared and submitted by following the detailed instructions provided in the Authors’ Instructions page. The manuscripts should present original work in the scope of the journal and must be exclusively submitted to this journal, must not have been published before, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Significantly extended and expanded versions of papers published in conference proceedings can be submitted, providing also a detailed description of the additions.
This publication is a hybrid journal, allowing traditional manuscript publication and open-access manuscripts. If the paper will be accepted for publication, you can choose to have your manuscript published open access.
For more information about preparing and submitting manuscripts as well as possible charges for accepted papers, please visit the Authors page.

SPECIAL ISSUE PROPOSALS: IEEE Systems Journal now accepts Special Issue proposals.

QUESTIONS: Questions concerning papers submitted to regular issues should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief, prof. Amir Aghdam.
Questions concerning papers submitted to special issues should be sent to the respective guest editors (see the call for papers of the specific special issue).
Questions, comments and suggestions, and any other problem concerning the journal as well as any questions concerning papers accepted in special issues should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief, prof. Amir Aghdam.
